Issue 002 · Our mission

No job without experience. No experience without a job.

That's the paradox a whole generation is stuck inside. Thousands of graduates finish their degrees, apply for hundreds of roles, and get told they need three years of experience to do work they were just trained to do. Meanwhile employers complain they can't find talent. Both things cannot be true.

UC exists to close that gap, by making the first job findable, by putting graduates in front of real people instead of filters, and by asking employers for one honest commitment: read the application.

The employer pledge

Four promises that make a first job possible.

01

Read the person, not the years

Employers here mark roles as entry-level welcome. That mark is a promise: applications from people without experience get read, not filtered out.

02

Say what the first year looks like

Roles can carry a mentorship mark, so a graduate knows someone is actually responsible for teaching them.

03

Reply, even when it's a no

Every application lands in the owner's dashboard with a status they can move. Silence is the thing that breaks people.

04

Open to everyone

Our roots are in community-led enterprise. Our doors are open to every background and belief, talent is not a members' club.

Who this is for

Community in its roots. Open in its doors.

We began by connecting people with community-led businesses, because that trust and that trade were being left on the table. Anyone can join, apply, hire, list a business or back a project here, of any faith or none. The hiring gap does not check anyone's background, so neither do we.
